There are other unusual visitors in Cagliari harbor, which actually are often spotted there, as I was told - no doubt because there's plenty of small fishes, too.
You can only see one in the pic, but there were three of them, one of which was among the largest I've ever seen - easily 10 feet, if not more.
Btw, all of them popped out very close to BA, from whose bow this pic was taken. That could have made for a very nice video, but I had left the mobile plugged inside for recharging, and by the time I grabbed it, they had moved more far away... :(
It's always beautiful to see these creatures swimming gracefully, anyway!

JtB, that's cheating, wasn't in the marina, was it?
Nice one P., dolphins around here stay at a km from the marina, lots of food by the boatyard shallows.

fwiw, we have a resident sea turtle in Volos marina, first time I saw it was scared sh1tless at it's over 1m long thing and saw it's head half a meter from the bathing platform whilst I was trying to do something...
I'm told it's really fond of mussels, and doing a tour along the moorings and the single floating pontoon we have here having it's dinner every evening from 5-6.
Need to take a pic of course

Please do! And you're more than welcome to post it here, of course.

We do have sea turtles also around here, but so far I've only seen them offshore.
The last time during the passage from Sicily earlier this summer, in fact.
Good thing that we had a glass calm sea btw, because at 20 odd knots, by the time I spotted her right in front of our bow, I barely had time to press AutoTack on the a/p, and see her pass just a couple of meters on our side!

In the meantime, I'll drop in another small contribute along the lines of "wild animals spotted in marinas", though obviously this ain't in the Med...
With apologies for the background wind noise, but I thought it was better to leave the original sound rather than add some music!

And not offshore Antibes either, I suppose? C'mon, spill the beans! :encouragement:

No - I've only seen a humpback once off Antibes; when we're crossing to Corsica we usually see fin whales, but only a pair at a time. My pic above was taken at Stellwagen Bank, off Boston, MA (and I got my days wrong, sorry - it was Thursday, not Friday).

Are u there skiing
Do you mean because of the flat water surface? LOL, nope, but it wouldn't be a bad idea...
If it weren't that there are strict speed limits - and Coast Guard, Customs, and even Navy boats are all moored nearby.
A fleet which includes an FB 38 Stab, btw. A type of boat which is hard to leave in your wake!

It is wonderful to witness these fantastic creatures first hand. We had a dolphin playing in Yarmouth Harbour a while ago. Not seen any whales in UK waters yet, but a. 2.5m blue shark breached about 50m from Rafiki on the north Cornwall coat. Fantastic!

not much to add, just that I regret that I didn't spot the animals while I was aboard 2 weeks ago, when we brought the boat to her winter mooring right there in Cagliari.

last summer, in august when we visited this same marina, the water was extremely dirty (brown) and many dead fish, so that it was worry-ing,
the harbour manager told us that it was really exceptional, and due to a massive shower a few day's before in the salt water lake nearby, killing many of the fishes in the lake..

when we came back in the harbour on 27/10, the water was still very dirty / brownish, but no dead fish
but after a few day's heavy rain, the water was surprisingly clear and blue.

I was told that the Dolfins are there residents, wich is just another nice thing in this marina Karalis.
