Morning all, apologies for this being a none boaty post. I got to hear about a lad named Jay, a 14 year old who had saved up his pocket money, paper round "wages" and even sold his play station so he could buy his first proper bike, which he did, a Voodoo Alzan 29er. The heart wrenching bit is shortly after he bought it, 3 men stole it from the bike sheds in his school yard, who does that, nick stuff from school kids !!!
I have therefore started a crowdfunding page on Justgiving attempting to raise enough to replace his bike and buy him a decent lock to secure it.. The donations are drying up via other means so I wanted to extend a plea to put a few of your coffers in the pot to make a real difference to this lad please. We're nearly half way there with approximately £300 to go before we have enough to buy Jay a replacement bike,
Having befriended his parents and Jay on Facebook and seen the posts doing the rounds within their family circle I have no doubt their plight is genuine, the lad himself is a really nice young man in the making and is gutted at the loss of his bike as anyone would that saved so hard to buy it. Hoping you'll support, a fiva (pint of beer in most places these days) would be greatly appreciated..
Thank you, of all the things I've asked you all to donate to over the years, this is right up there. Cheers Gary .
Here's a link to the crowdfunding page I've started where you can make a contribution to putting a big grin back on Jay's mush
