Captain Mick Jennings (R.E) escaped from Singapore in 1942, crossed Sumatra, and, with a similarly inexperienced soldier, undertook a 4 month voyage to Australia in a 17ft open boat. This book is a gem - and comparable with Desperate Voyage by John Caldwell; similar in the agonisingly detailed ordeals and depravations described - and born with bloody minded determination.
An Ocean Without Shores was published in 1950. Well worth hunting for. My copy will be doing the rounds of friends and family.

I like the sound of that.Unless I can convince you I am your long lost cousin or best mate I guess the library may be able to get it for me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
