An interesting business perspective

We keep the boat on the Dart (Kingswear side) and walk the dog most mornings along the towpath. Dog was assaulted this morning (whilst on a lead) by a Jack Russell off lead. We said "go away" yes really, at which point JR's owner goes mental shrieking "he's only having a bark". Told her she should keep dog under control etc. O.K. something and nothing, until....... husband of JR owner stomps alomg towpath to have serious words including fairly serious threats. Thats O.K I'm a big lad and don't respond well to threats - explained this (patiently) to him. Response - "I own the shop in Kingswear and I'm sick and tired of visitors all over the place".

So if you should visit the Dart, and I recommend you do, You know where you are welcome. BTW thers are some proper shops on the Dartmouth side of the river with better stock and better prices. On the whole they're friendlier too....

My German Shepherd - Jake ....

We used to take him for wlaks down near Havant Quay ... there was an area for dog-walkers etc. to enjoy a view over Langstone Hbr while walking their canine friends....

Well Jake's in his "teen" stage and getting interested in 'bitches' ....

So walking in the field - quite normal for people to let their dogs off there ... he sniffs ... and he's off to inspect the bits on a Rottweiler !! Woman shrieks and screams - threatening all sorts of dire things will happen to Jake ... "My bitch is on heat and you must keep your b....y dog away .... My bitch will tear him to bits ....... etc. etc."

Well I call Jake .... but he's got other things on his mind !! He promptly "gives" the Rotty a good set-to of the you-know-what ..... to this by now crazed womans screams !!! I can't help but roll around laughing ..... this Rotty should have torn Jake to bits - but bhe just went up ... did the biz and literally ignored it !!

But like I told the stupid woman .... you DON'T bring a bitch who is on heat to a recognised public dog walk area and expect everyone to watch out for you ---- its your job to look after your dog - same as I did with our previous female dog before jake ...

It was so funny though !! I always wondered what the pups looked like !!!!

Reminds me of an incident a couple of years ago now. Was walking "Katie" our bitch along a tow path when she bounded off to say hello to another dog of indeterminate bred.

Owner imediatly went into one and started threatening all sorts of things and finished up with do you know who the [--word removed--] I am. I am the mayors brother!

To which my quick wittted CID friend pulled out his warrent card, and said well lets see if the mayor comes down to the station to pick you up.

His face was a picture as Chris cuffed him and called up a van to pick him and his dog up!

Dont know whether I would be more irritated by the Lord Mayors brother mouthing it off or your friend abusing his authority. probably the latter since the Mayor is subject to election whilst the police are above democratic control.

The Mayor's brother was being threatening, so why is the copper abusing his authority? From what we were told it sounds perfectly in order that the big mouth was taken to the local nick!
