Yes, I know that.

Why do you think people cannot be bothered to use it?

Why do you think it was used when part of this site?

Accessibility, that is why. Believe it or not, it is a fact that some people can't be arsed.

What I would like now is a response from YBW.

What is so difficult to get to the site?

Not exactly a scintillating active forum.

I agree, but what is odd is that when Classic Boat Mag left the YBW fold the Forum remained but for some reason it was abandoned by forumites. The Forum address didn't change and the forum names and passwords were kept the same, so why did so many people leave ?

As I remember it IPC binned it in a huff over the mag - or the title anyway - changing hands to the opposition, at least I got that impression; I used to visit it when still going here, I don't think it was abandoned by we forumites.

It was, as I recall, well used right until IPC transferred it, which was a few months after they transferred the magazine.

I don't think people 'left' but, you must agree that there is a certain quirky and indefinable pattern we all have when visiting these boards. We 'surf' from one forum to another, then back again, then a bit more........eventually we lose interest and close the lid.

If CB had remained as a forum, we would visit that at some point - I know I always did.

But would we bother to close YBW and visit the separate CB forum? Obviously not.

That is why it has withered on the vine.

No - transferring the forum from ybw.com to classicboat.co.uk was part of the contract for selling the magazine. The version of it here on ybw was kept as an archive but made read-only.

We the users predicted that it would die if moved away from its busier neighbours on ybw; we were ignored; we were right.

PRV,

thanks for that insight, I'd always thought ' we the users ' included myself but obviously not !

chinita is spot on, if not grouped here it becomes yet another bookmark - seems a good idea at the time but rarely visited.
