An engine question for the mechanical experts

I have a P360 with 63p`s on shafts, When im manovering and engage the starboard engine it chugs, yet the port one does not, this happens in reverse as well. If i then move slowly along on tickover using just the starboard engine it does the same until i engage the port one as well then it stops, or i apply more more to the starboard one. I left the boat tied up to the pontoon with only the starboard engine running and engaged forward on tickover only and i didnt do it, but heres the strange think the minute i started the port one (not in gear) the chuging stopped. Has anyone got any ideas? Sensible answers please.

Sounds like the damper needs adjusting on the injection pump to balance the tickover as its load related, I presume it performs ok and not something as simple as an air leak or blocked filters.

Are both engines fed from the same tank?
