Not being an expert on the America's Cup I didn't realise it was only best-of-three. All that litigation and expense for a total non-event. Alinghi make a mess of the first start then make a bizarre decision not to tack on the lay line and force BMW Oracle to pass them, and its all over. A triangle-sausage sailed in Optimists would have had way more drama.

Formula 1 now has a serious rival.

300 million dollars by all accounts.what a waste of money.perhaps some more enlightened forumite could tell me what the lasting significance of the wing will be,unless its for commercial vessels.
the commentary on the race was the most exciting bit " we have a dramatic and pulsating race on our hands".....mmmm
AS the Irish groom said to an English horse buyer with a useless screw "Faith ,but you're easily pleased"

You must have blinked.
The beat for the second race was quite promising but once on the reach, the wing sail Oracle was doing 24knots when Alinghi was doing 21knots. No chance, no competition. A victory for the best technology not the best sailors.
I await with interest as some production boats adopted the Fathead sail of the twelves. Will we have a wingsail Bavaria 38?????
