America's Cup. Viewing

Nope - all cancelled now and people even being shooed off the Southsea waterfront...

Pete, Bramblemet is showing gusts of 25kts already. Quite impressed if you're posting from that inflatable thingamajig contraption of yours bouncing around off Gilkicker Pt somewhere :D

Now sitting in Gunwharf after watching Ben's boat being lifted out. That was hairy in these winds. Video will be posted later.

Heh. No, we were out yesterday in the nice weather:

Never planned to be out today in the pissing rain. In fact I'm sitting here discovering just how hard it is to find parts for a 34-year-old Suzuki DT40, most seem to be only available as old stock from US eBay sellers.

News of them closing the event came via Facebook :)

Excellent pics Henry. I thought I saw E-J out on the water yesterday. Generally, I was impressed with how well behaved the spectator fleet was.

Never got to see the race on the Net or TV yesterday. Am I missing something or is the coverage much poorer than the VOR.

Went to watch today, but racing cancelled. This mean that I will get a refund on the tickets. Maybe next year will try again

Went on the Gosport Ferry "Race Watching Cruise" on Saturday and was most impressed. Cruise lasted about 3.5 hours starting at 1145 so we got to see the first air display and then all the racing from a spot on the very edge of the course about half down the South East side. The extra height of the ferry enabled a much better view than being at yacht level, we had the commentary on 97.3, and lunch and drinks were available. All in all a very good package for £25 and I shall go again next year. A much better day than Friday when I went to the "Fanzone" and got thoroughly soaked for £35 and no Red Arrows!

Who's was that big MoBo anchored outside? We sailed (well, slammed) our way past it on Saturday morning and it was quite impressive!

If you mean the one off Gilkicker then 'tiz Musashi owned by Larry Ellison of Oracle no doubt come to cheer on his investment.

We went by it for a looksie and thought it was surprising ugly. I thought his old yacht Rising Sun was better looking.
