Would you believe that this quartet singing traditional Sardinian songs are from Massachusetts?!?
And not originally from Italy, as I understand - just keen on this very peculiar type of singing...

Unaccompanyed singing/non instrumental is clever stuff in whichever form, from barber shop quartets to the current beat-box, it has wide appeal.
The USA based Sardinian group could certainly produce some very unusual sounds from 'deep inside somewhere' :).

Given the large Italian communities in the US (and Oz), I'm not surprised of the cultural connections.

100% agreed.
But this is even more peculiar: a recording really doesn't make it justice, if you ever had the privilege to attend a live performance.
After all, Unesco must have had a reason to include it in the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity ...
...on top of the recognitions from other folks who knew a thing or three about music and singing, like Peter Gabriel and Frank Zappa.

PS: whoops, I'm just realising that I was thinking to post this in the Lounge, sorry for the wrong placement.
There's no way to move a thread, I guess. Or is there (admins aside)?
