....is too tight to pay for checked in luggage and finds that at least half of my suitcase is take up by boat parts? This time it will be a new pair of speakers, a fatboy lamp and various other bits and pieces that I'm too tight to pay Spanish prices for. After I've squeezed in the overflow from my wife's case I'm lucky if I've got space for some smalls, a pair of shorts and a few t-shirts.

So if anyone is unlucky enough to run into me in June, please excuse the smell and rather disheveled look :)!

Pete if you are on boat share you seem to do a lot of upgrades ,do they appreciate you

They do and they help when they can. But to be honest, I'm quite happy searching around for parts and organizing stuff.

I also get a kick out of seeing the boat being used (as long as they don't break it)!

I thought that was the whole point of Med boating. You only need a costume and a second T-shirt. Seems to me it's easier to just buy them there. :encouragement:
 
In answer to pete's question I took a checked bag outbound on the last trip with parts etc in.

Was tight enough to leave the bag on the boat rather than pay £18 to bring it back home again though. It will go in the car this summer
 
I travel with cardboard boxes. Very fashionable and no need to bring them back

If you have a three phone then you can check in hand luggage for free on easyjet. Hand luggage on easy has no weight limit so a cardboard box which can include tools and liquids for nothing is handy !
 
About £12 to send up to 25kgs to Med. Spain with ipostparcels. I send tools, spares, electrics etc with no problems. You need a receiving facility, of course. I have a mailbox service locally, so it works fine.
 
We tend to travel hand luggage only, but will take a bag happily so I can bring boat stuff down via nice. I use a North Face duffle which will roll up into my hand luggage for the return.

Helps that we tend to go BA and never towards the back.

There were a couple of charmers on the fast-track at LHR last week when we were doing a BA long haul. She made every middle-aged and upwards businessman unpack his heart pills and examined each medication separately, whilst he grumbled at the world before flouncing off, screaming, "I'll be back when I feel like it". Both were quietly replaced by some extraordinarily helpful and pleasant agents, who moved the line forwards much faster and none of us blew up over Greenland.
