Yes - he never recovered his former charm once he metamorphed into a Boatman.
I blame the parents.

All he wants a few iggerant furriners to turn up on the Mudway, start the race and run aground on one of the shifting shitbanks. It'll make his results look better.

Serve him right if we turned up and detonated the Richard Montgomery. Spoil the whole regatta, that would.

Re: what cunliffe hessian underpants?

I don't appear to have any of these .. is this something one gets when one has posted 1000 messages here?

Re: Brown

Is this the jackyardtopsail or the Hessian Knickers after we've detonated the Richard Montgomery and decimated the fleet in our gaffrigswatchwayhalfdecklaurentshoaldraftcutter? ....or possibly both?

Re: Lufftwafferthingys

Don't think they're allowed.. I would expect you'll get lots of protest flags.... why not bring some U Boats.. they could look quite picturesque beached on those medwayshiftingshitbankthingys... one could even attempt to torpedo them..

Oh good oh, Seconds out, round three
Hope it goes better for you this time - in the meantime we'll be doing our usual stuff with Vyv Cox - (our man on the Isselmeer) Riddle of the Sands and all that.

My GOD,, I make a friendly posting, bugger off working for a few days and come back to this<s> With a list like that I think I may have made a good choice. That lot apppearing on th Medway in one hit could spoil sail/racing for years to come.
In fact I've had a thought (first in years) I think I'll start a sweep, All those on the list to be put on top of the "Mongomery" and then take Kens suggestion of lighting the blue touch paper and retiring. BANG, agro on the forum solved in one second<s> Me, Kim H, James J,and John Waston(MDL) get to live out out remaining years in peace. Sounds like a good plan to me!
It would of course mean that the forum may lose some of its expertise but what the hell (progress etc).
I mean, why would anyone want to come to the Medway YC, when all we can offer is 4 days of competative racing, safe moorings either with us or Chatham Marina (MDL), entertainment, good food, friendly atmosphere, no constant radio checks and finally a chance to meet "The Boatman" I mean "come on lads and lassies" thats got to be the clincher, meeting "The Boatman"<s>. If you're really lucky it might be me that takes you ashore for the evening bash. I would add at this point that I'm from the old school of boat handling and reckon if your within 6' of the pontoon your close enough, after all when you've laid as many pot markers (black 1 gallon cans, with a minimum of 100' of polyprop line attached , does the most damage, so that they are difficult to see) in the main fairway as I have, yotties are to be considered as low lifes and can quite easliy swim the rest.
I mean that you are looking at a person here that made the proud boast to a fellow potter, when asked how I had done on the previous tide, I was able to answer, got 10 lobsters, 24 crabs and 2 yachts in my lines and he was in awe of such an achievement<s>

My boat was built down there, at upnor, thats close to the club isn't it? Englander is her name, owned and built originally by Laurie Blair, no relation to the other one!! I hope.

Colin, Upnor is our postal address and I do believe (or though might be wrong) that L.Blair was once a member of MYC. I've definately heard his name mentioned before now.

Local knowledge???

Peter, how are you on Hoo, 20 years back. It's where my boat was built by Hartley Marine, Vicarage Lane, ME3 9LB, phone Medway 251595.

Gone now, but is anything known of them locally?

Laurie, was definitely a member, He may even have been commodore or something, anyway, from the clubhouse, you can see past the boat park, a slipway/railway, with a shed in the trees, that was where she was built and stored every winter. I believe his daughter is still a member, but not sure, Laurie is sadly now gone, I spoke to him but never got to meet him which is a great shame, I had so many questions about the boat. His wife I believe still has all the build photographs of Englander, I would love to get a copy, but dont know how to contact her.
