Having just come back from SSB I was pleased to find that self righting liferafts are now made down to 4 people versions.
When I first started boating I could not beleive how everyone accepted the 50/50 chance of a liferaft inflating upside down. I know that four men in a calm swimming pool have their work cut out righting a small liferaft ... to do it at sea with any size of liferaft can prove impossible.
Given that the only time you would ever want to use a liferaft is an a dire emergency - I for one would want to know it inflated the right way up.
So how many of you have also decided that the only route is self righting?
How many would pay the extra (about £300) to have their liferaft self righting?
