Look mate.....we may be a bit juvenile on here at times but that doesnt mean we're childish.........
.....and Ive already got a Blue Peter badge anyway but I'm certainly not telling you how I got it ...tho it did have loose associations with Fairy Liquid containers and loo roll tubes /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif!
Youre probably too young to remember Val Singleton anyway..........

Hi tony
chromic Anodise should not crack, as its only 4 microns thick (0.0002") this is gray in colour, used mainly on castings. Window frames etc. Sulphuric anodise is thicker 8-12 microns (0.0003 - 0.0005") its this anodise that can be dyed a number of colours. Aircraft parts are normaly done yellow as its contains dichromate and offers good protection, this is used on sheet or bar/tube. looks good to start with but would weather and fade fast in the marine enviroment. Thats why chromic is used a lot will not fade as its gray already. If you can get hold of the tube and its not to long I could get it done for you. The problem is I'm in the solent area?
sorry to bore you all.
john

I should think so to. That answer was far too technical and serious. Also can you please use measurements that we can all understand. For eg, what the hell is "micron" Last time I used a Micron was to increase the gee gee's on my old RD250 2 stoke! If its small please use terms we can underdstand. Like if its small/thin/close......its a "fag paper". If its even thinner/smaller/closer than a "fag paper" it then becomes a "gnats cock".

I'll think you'll find people will be able to realate to those terms much more readily. Now I'm off to remember my "yoof" and think about whailing Micron spannies and old smelly Jap bikes.

RD250, nah that wasn't microns - that was 2mm before tdc.

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.
