Why alloy
Good question!
In the summer my boat is moored in a river estuary.....so it gets a mixture of fresh and salt water....magnesium anodes are for fresh water.....zinc for salt....aluminum for a mixture. And just to be fully scientific, the aluminum anode is actually a alloy mixed with zinc

Why alloy

They are becoming mainstream now and used by many - work in salt and brackish and some say in fresh as well. Benefits are that they are typically lighter than zinc, don't release cadmium into the water as they corrode, they are cheaper than zinc and they last longer.

We have used aluminum for many years on various boats.

It says zinc.
Zincs I can get from my local chandler. They offer to order aluminum for me...but no one has accurate pictures or diagrams as to what the anode will look like....and they all differ in some way
Apologies - missed your requirement for Aluminium
