I've just changed my Alternator Belt Layout...
Further to my thread on my new alternator belt layout, I have a slight problem with the shaft that the 12V Balmar alternator is mounted on.

The data sheet for the alternator says the mounting hole is 1/2". I measured it at 11.5mm, but it's a bit tricky without a 12mm drill bit :)
Similarly I measured the hole on the mounting bracket as 11.5mm

I'm pretty sure we tried 12mm studding and it didn't fit, either the bracket or the alternator. At present there is 10mm studding in there, which isn't ideal.

Should I drill them out to fit 12mm studding, or make inserts?

Hi

I had the same problem which was probably due to loose tolerances on the 12mm hole. I managed to ease the hole to take a 12mm bolt using a roll of coarse emmery paper. It took approx half an hour but was quicker than going home to fetch a drill or reamer.

Good luck
