Alternator brushes = Volvo 1993

Having recovered from the shock of vilvo's price for an exchange alternator, I wish to renew the brushes of the existing valeo model. Can anyone advise of a possible supplier?

Any auto electric motor or industrial motor repair shop should be able to match up and supply brushes.

I bought a set for the car alternator (Volvo car) from an automobile electricians in Royal Tunbridge Wells (Curd Brothers for anyone in the area.) for a tiny fraction of that. I forget the exact sum but a really tiny fraction
Just got the graphite brushes with a tail that I soldered into the old brush holders.

they came in the plastic holder as well, hey, i was setting off on my hols in a few days, i am a tight twat as well but i can be pragmatic when necessary!!

I required a pair of brushes for a servo motor for a CNC lathe which the lathe manufacturer supplied at £27.80 each plus £12 postage (plus VAT) a grand total of £79.43 including VAT.

The same brush was on sale from the above website at $5 each. A pack of 6 cost £17 including postage (and no VAT). They arrived within three days from the USA.

Their website is very helpful.

As the alternators are car type, have you tried LSUK ? or similar. they can supply spare brushes for virtually all the alternators ever made.
