Alpha 1 Gen I has a smaller water pump and a different method of securing the bellows behind the gimbal house (hose clip).
The Gen II has a different shaped housing and trim cylinders and beefed up bearings and shift mechanism, and much larger water pump.

Fair enough......mine's a 99 boat so obviously a gen 2.
