I have a 19 foot powerboat with a Mercruiser Alpha 1 outdrive and am having real problems replacing the exhaust bellows, and would appreciate any practical tips or information on how to get the bellows into place and the jubilee clips tightened. My local mercruiser specialist have a months wait before I can get them to do this so it is a job I am trying desperately to de myself. Help please

Do you have a Seloc Repair manual for your Outdrive / Engine combination?
I have one for my VolvoPenta and its pretty indepth and IMO technical enough to replace bellows etc.

Fit the bellows to the transom first, there is a hole on the port side to tighten the hose clip (long screwdriver).
Then fit to drive side and you can come to the hose clip from underneath, its worth buying and 8mm hoseclip tool as this won't slip off the screw head.

Thanks for the advice, however I cant seem to get the bellows to stretch to the outdrive manifold when it is secured engine side, it seems too short wthout being extended/streched and i cant get in to place and secure it when the leg is dropped, as the working space is too tight. The bellows seems to be the right part and was supplied by a dealer any ideas how I can pull/stretch it into place.
