What started as a money making plan has ended in a bit of a dream come true and an mistrusting bank manager!

I am moving from a life of flat renting to "alotow", as my mum is refering to it (...a life on the ocean waves!)

I am not so concerned about myself, probably 'cause I am blindly in love with the boat, but I am however quite worried about my one year old dog! He can (and may) make life very hard for me so any tips about the transition would be gratefully recieved.

Where does a dog do his buisness on a 29" wodden decked boat? How do you best keep him out of the way when trying to Learn How To Sail! At present his food and water bowls would take up the majority of free floor space, any space saving ideas?

Everyone I know who keeps dogs successfully onboard has the good sense to own a jack russel, etc. I have unfortunately found myself about to share a shoebox with a rather large retriever! Very excited though!!!

Obviously i'm new comer to this whole thing and don't want to ruffle any feathers but simply do not agree with you or think that your advice is particularly helpful, truthful or kind.

Thanks anyway.

Well Ok, but it was an honest opinion from one who loves sailing and dogs. Believe me, there is not much worse than driving home after a few days sailing without the dog you took with you.
For an hour or two or an easy day sail then it might be OK, but not for me.

Maybe if you build a huge running wheel for your canine friend and install a tree to pee up, the experience would be more bearable? Or trade him / her in for a parrot which is considered more traditional.
