Hi Forumites.
a vague discription of an engine.
It's Gold coloured with 3 cylinders ,diesel, old and rusty(boat is 45 years old but this probably is not the original engine).
So little to go on I know but if anyone can help they are here somewhere.
I have no other info except I was finding the oil leak and found a clever little fitted drain hose and plug arrangement at the very bottom of the sump fitted well so I assume that the thing is original.
Any and all help greatly received.

Further questions

1. It may not be the original paint - what makes you think that it is
2. What type of boat is it in?
3. Petrol or diesel?

Just to be a complete pedant - the quote is "All that glisters....." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I know this is not much use in identifying your engine, but I recall years ago some reconditioned engines were called gold seal engines. They were sent out resprayed in gold paint. Naturally they could be anyone of dozens of different engines.

As far as I recall these were BMC [remember them?] Gold Seal engines so possibly the engine in question is a BMC 1.5 diesel assuming that the Gold Seal scheme included diesels.
