I remember when there was a big cat moored up at Hamble Point around nine or ten years ago (Enza which became Royal Sun Alliance and then Tony Bullimore bought and extended it)
It was required (by some authority) to display an all round red at the masthead for the safety of aircraft.
Now all round reds are becoming quite common in the Med and even becoming a status symbol - sort of "our boat is so big that WE have to show a red anchor light" Even boats around 20metres are showing them now when they're in marinas! There's a boat in Gouvia, a ketch, with one atop each mast.
Anyone know what the criteria are for these lights? Can't find anything about them in the CollRegs.
