Just getting down to the planning for the Sailing Club's Cherbourg weekend next month. We have found a minder for the kids for a few days and are rounding up grown up crew from the club. It is starting to look like me, SWMBO, one beginner, and one competent crew. Oh yes and apart from me they are all of the fairer sex.

The tides seem to favour an afternoon departure on the Thursday with an overnight passage to Cherbourg, returning by day on Sunday. Any advice on watch keeping as well as the social and domestic aspects?

Get your head down as soon as you're south of the IOW so you're fresh by the time you approach the track of ships entering/leaving the TSS. Remember there is another unofficial lane immediately to the north of the official ones.

The quickest and easiest non-wobbly pontoon in Cherbourg is the big one immediately on the right as you enter chantereyne, pontoon H. Smaller vessels tend to go around the south side of this.

The yacht club upstairs is a pretty good gambit for meals.
