Because....

White gel coat is cheaper than coloured.

Whatever colour it is there will be someone who won't buy it just because their wife doesn't like that colour.

Dark colours show up imperfections in the moulding much more.
 
Ah, its all a control conspiracy: boats must always be white, as must fridges, freezers, washing machines and most other kitchen gear. TVs until recently were any colour you liked as long it was silver. The rules are a bit more relaxed now: you can get exciting plastic grey, or black- er - black, as well as statutory silver.

Probably some Brussels conformity rule...?
