aldi LPG Gas Alarm

We bought a £15 gas alarm from Aldi a few weeks ago intending to use it on the boat.

Plugged it in at home to see how it worked and just left it - kids 8yrs and 12 yrs started complaining about the high frequency noise that neither wife or I could hear.

They find it really uncomfortable. Has anyone else had a similar problem or is it a dud unit.

Its proably too late to change the alarm (lost the Receipt) and definately cant change the children, but would be interested in others experience.

Aldi are pretty good about their guarantees, I bought a shower mixer a year ago, naturally lost the bill, but Aldi when I phoned quite happily arranged for a part to come from Italy. Why don't you phone them or take it in? They may still have one or two to swop.

I have a Lidl one in the boat, chucked away the transformer and connected to the 12 volt, works a treat and no ultrasonics either. I suspect they may well be the same bit of kit, both stores stock identical things from time to time.
