Crucially, it's only 80W output, which isn't enough for many laptops. And it's not particularly cheap either - you can get 120W high-power adaptors for the same price.
I think you'll find it depends on the model.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 that has a 19.5v DC input. The DC plug is an odd ball and isn't compatible with any of the cheaper DC-DC supplies that I've seen (including the Maplin ones). You can get a Tip for the Kensington supply but that's pretty expensive.

Don't see a Dell fitting there. Is there one?

Don't dell have a 3rd wire so you can only use their PSU?
FWIW I run an Acer with a rating of 100w off an 80w unit, it only uses max power on startup so I boot off the internal battery. Maybe not something you would plan to do but I had the PSU anyway.
and there are a couple of car chargers with Dell 3 pin plugs.
I was looking for a Toshiba Qosmio G20 car charger and, whilst I couldnt find one on the site, I emailed them and got an order code for the car charger I want, and confirmation that it is in stock.
"YOUR ORDER CODE: CAR-G20-15v8a-hex
TOTAL TO PAY: £59.99"
Looks right so paid via Nochex and fingers crossed that it arrives early next week and is the right one.
£59.99 inc. 1st Class signed for delivery
This compares with over £100 for one from a Toshiba reseller.
I'll give an update when it arrives - I've been looking for one of these for over a year!
