I have searched the internet, honest, but I cannot find any information relating to taking of dogs to Alderney/Guernsey from the UK. The privately owned boat will go straight to the CI's and return direct to the UK and will not visit France.
There seems to be plenty of info regarding the importation of pets from the EU, but nothing relating to the CI's---can anybody help, or point me in a direction?

We took our dog to Alderney in 2007 flew the Q flag (because of the dog) and cleared customs there declaring the Canine crew member. This was officially recorded on the paperwork. We have had her chipped and passported but were not asked for those documents. We experienced no problems at all and presume the same applies to the other main Channel Islands. However, we did unintentionally overlook notifying UK customs about our departure and return which I found out that we should have done on our return.

There is a problem in Victoria marina, Guernsey, at least there was in 2008. They have a local 'rule' banning dogs from the marina. This means you must berth on the pontoons outside and use your dinghy to get ashore. As a previous post suggests, it would be well worth a call to each HM you plan to visit - at least they speak English!

Dog In CIs

I cruised the Channel Islands in 2008 with "Cassie" our 4 yr old sringer/labrador cross and my understanding is that you can return to UK with dog no problem. You can enter French waters and still return to UK with dog provided he/she has not set foot, or should that be paw, on French soil. Some CI marinas have 'no dog policy' as other poster has stated.

I can only speak of our experience of Alderney where we were anchored in Bray harbour.

Don't think you tried that hard! Google St Peter Port marina and call up the interactive Yachtsman's Guide Page 21 and it's all there. Guernsey does not allow any boat with animals aboard to park on pontoons in the marinas.

Yes, but you can outside the marinas if you have express permission. When we arrived at Bray I went ashore to clear in and make sure exactly what we were permitted to do dogwise before letting her ashore.

The same rule applies in Jersey at the St.Helier Marina.

One yacht, with a dog onboard, got kicked out of the marina, and had to moor against the waiting pontoons outside the marina near the lifeboat. It was a bit lumpy out on the waiting pontoons.
