Aldeburgh Marine Antiques and Boat Jumble 5th May

Well, there are certainly some "marine antiques" there... but they are hardly of the jumble sale variety!
These days the only 'marine antiques' are the likes of me and a few other boat owners. Peter Wilson reached 80 years recently and has relinquished the majority share of the business to Demon Yachts and despite the name they have certainly cleared up the place. He is rebuilding an old Alvis in the new shed (which was replaced after the fire), still racing Internationally in a smaller version of 'If'. His new boat is a Malar30 (30 sqm) named Kajsa, also in red, built 1930 something
which I got to have a couple of races on last summer at Cowes British Classic Week. He also has a magnificent Gentlemans Motor Yacht which he rebuilt from the ribs up, originally built on Clyde in the '20s.
The workshop is in full flow with a team of young (ish) enthusiastic boatmen and Matthew of Demon Yachts is there almost 7 days a week.
So the future looks bright for boatbuilding in Aldeburgh. Not to mention the amazing woodwork going on at Upsons Yard down the way.
I'm sure I have a tablesworth of stuff I could display and hopefully sell if I can manage to dig it out and collate.
Plenty of free parking along the Slaughden Road and Aldeburgh Yacht Club have a new glass extension River View Bar.
So maybe come and experience the fact that Aldeburgh is not stuck in the past? Only a few of us,ha?
(BTW, this really is not an advertisement just a positive recommendation and my boat will be afloat (if not I will sell it there!!!))

I was thinking of the IYRU metre class boats at the back of Peter Wilson's / Demon yachts' yard, "waiting for the right millionaire"!

I was in Aldeburgh quite recently; I enjoyed a chat with Peter Wilson and admired both the Alvis and his International 14. I think I am right in saying that he pottered over to Norway in the mobo last summer. Yes, the AYC new bar is very nice..
