Does anyone have any good contacts for parts suppliers for the Albatros. In particular I am looking for an engine as mine is currently using an escort 1300 engine.

I know someone with an Albatross with the original Ford Consul engine. I don't know if it is the original 1508cc or the later 1703cc engine.
That's why I suggest joining the Classic Motorboat Association as they have a lot of very knowledgable people as members.

There you are then, A bit more info.
By 100E do you mean the side-valve engine. I think the 105E was the same body with the later 107E OHV engine.
But I stand to be corrected.

They were pretty little two seaters - the four seater version was not as attractive. I think there were a couple on the deck of Britannia. Built at St. Olaves in Norfolk (just) where South River Marine now operate.
The sidevalve isn't really very powerful by todays standards. I recall two problems - getting dings out of the aluminium hull is difficult - and they were built without a gearbox. When you started the engine you were off. Coming in to moor, the best approach was to work out where the wind would take you before turning the engine off.

The late Ray Wright worked there and continued to build the very similar Deltas after Archie Pease' suicide. Deltas were grp - and I think Aquafibre still have the moulds.

Interesting that I know a guy with what I understood to be an Albatross (in aluminium) and its at 4 seater, but with a Ford Consul engine. Perhaps the bigger boat had a bigger engine?
We used it as a camera platform and it rode very smoothly compared to other similar sized boats (Delta, Healey)

Thats a Simmonds 4 seater. 1500 Ford Consul, mid - late 50's.

You might occasionally see a cracking 2 seater Simmonds on W'mere, all shiny unpainted alloy, powered by a marinised daimler dart V8.

Nice boats, very similar to albi, original delta etc. There are a few about.
