Maybe I am the last to know but I only heard this morning that Alan Pape died a few weeks ago. He was the designer of many beautiful boats, including mine. I did not know him well but as the builder of one of his designs I had spoken to him several times on the phone. He was always friendly and extremely helpful.... even though I was fiddling around with what he had already designed!
This is a sad loss to the boating world and he will be remembered all around the world for his beautiful and sea-kindly designs which have sailed about as far and wide as it is possible to sail....
I know he was not a young man and had not been in the best of health but if anybody knows any more details, also of his wife (the phone number no longer works), please let me know by PM.
