How about we try and get a discount so that we can all have AIS LIVE on forum members boats then we could all see where we were /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif It just needs another tab next to who's on line that says 'who's at sea' /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Those that talk a good job and just sit at their computer would be sussed out, the more adventurous could be seen out in treacherous conditions giving it some. Very handy if you were passing somewhere and wanted a cup of Tea as well /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We may as well be ahead of the game because in the papers today they were talking about a similar system to charge you per mile for using your car, Oh! and fining you for speeding with the touch of a button /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

AIS I,m already a member of that" Anglesey Inbred Society" For Christ,s sake "Fining you for speeding with a touch of a button" What,s all that about? I,ve already got 10 points thanks to Brunston W***ker. What,s AIS? Explain to a thick Islander. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Oi whisper, you been peeping /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif But yes truly scary when you are deciding on your radar reflector for crossing the channel and the odds of one of these buggers running you over /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

As I had said earlier WHAT NUTTER would cross the channel? it's like running across the M25 when it's in full flow, the raggies that do it must be looking for an adrenaline rush or suicidal, as for Duncan wanting to take me to the Channel Islands, after what I have seen on www.aislive.com he has NO CHANCE, I want to see my Grand Children /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I am just a 25ft er with no radar = potential victim of the crazy elongated triangles buzzing about /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif It looks like a Play station game but that is real BIG BUGGERS out there with no real brakes /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

www.aislive.com = REALITY CHECK /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

even when on a raggie at slower speeds, you actually don't meet that many, and usually quite easy to avoid them. Only real issue is when there's fog and dependent on radar

EXACTLY, YOUR DOOMED, how many have been sunk and it all kept quiet, 4,5 a day? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

If I go to the Channel Islands it will be on BA with a glass of wine and a rental car waiting to get to my hotel, NOT on my little 25ft boat with 10 pairs of underpants and my Will in a waterproof pouch /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

An old Merch skipper once told me that most of the ships come in bunches as they leave european ports at high water. And time thier arrival to arrive at high water for the same reason.
I wonder if any of our members who were in the Merchant Navy could confirm or deny this.

Yes! that is true but bear in mind that arrival/departure times on tides also vary from port to port. Ergo vessels to/from Rotterdam will be on a different schedule from say Southampton
