AIS kit

Thinking of an AIS installation and I'm looking at em trak with built in wifi....and the digital yacht ait2000 with a wireless gateway which allows the data to transfer to my ipad running the digital yacht Navlink software.
Anyone any experience with either em trak or navlink please?

Currently run Navionics on my Ipad ,supplementing mt E120 plotter down below

I have an em-trak with built in wifi.Internal aerial works well so didn't need to get an external one. Laptop talked to it via usb cable no problem using setup s/w. It did take me a while to get my head round the settings for it to talk to OpenCPN on Android tablet or phone, but got there in the end. One issue I found was that it wouldn't talk to Tablet and Phone at the same time. I reported this to em-trak and they did know of the issue, so on their fix list.PS No problem with it talking to chart plotter.

I've worked with Em-Trak a little, though not wifi specifically. Seemed like good kit. The config software is essentially the same as the McMurdo, which might suggest some common ancestry.

I had a technical question about N2k PGNs which was answered rapidly by their office in Bath.

I fitted an Em-Trak AIS with splitter earlier this year and it has been faultless. I recall reading they actually make the Mc Murdo unit and others.
I can't comment on the Wifi but the standard unit has worked very well - even with the GPS aerial down below in a locker.

There is a show offer of a free splitter with the Vesper Marine transponders currently. Available from Cactus until 30 Sept. I got the XB6000 and splitter on same deal last year. Very pleased and the internal GPS antenna works well. The Vespet one with WiFi is XB8000.

I’m also an Em-Trak user, good kit at a great price with superb customer support. Not used the WIFI version.
