Does anyone know if this is just a Raymarine problem or that Garmin, Furno, Navico, etc have the same problem. Seems like a simple software fix. Recent correspondence with the CIL after sailing round Ireland in July. I have absolutely no problems with all ships showing up.
It is disappointing that this high specification Raymarine equipment is not correctly handing the AIS AtoN message (Message 21) and I have raised this issue with Raymarine.

This problem will not be limited to CIL AIS AtoN as the Type 21 Message is internationally specified in ITU 1371 and by IALA (The international Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities).
The note from Neil Robertson and the minute of the NLB user meeting is correct and I expect that the same is true of your receiver – it is receiving but not displaying the Type 21 Message.
I have checked AIS Liverpool and all of our AIS AtoN (with the exception of Belfast Fairway which is faulty) are displayed correctly.
The CIL AtoN where you should expect AIS AtoN reception at the moment are:-
Fastnet to Tuskar
Cork Buoy and Old Head of Kinsale
Conningbeg, Bore Rocks and Red Bank buoys
Tuskar to Dublin
Southeast Blackwater buoy
Arklow and Codling Lanbys
Kish Lighthouse
North and South Burford Buoys
Dublin to North Channel
Hellyhunter, Strangford, Skulmartin and South Hunter buoys.
North Channel to Killybegs
Foyle, Limeburner and Bullockmore buoys
The aids between Dublin and Killybegs are test AtoN as part of an EU funded project that was completed last year. There is some useful information on this project and AIS AtoN in general on our website at http://www.cil.ie/sh687x5551.html .
I will be in further contact when I receive a reply from Raymarine. In the meantime please update me if there are any developments at your end or if you have any further comments on the aids to navigation service.
It is quite difficult to get well informed feedback on AtoN and in particular AIS so your input is greatly appreciated.
