AIS and NMEA data anywhere onboard

I assume that you use this to connect the MFDs to WiFi?

Looks ****, but assume it does the job. You would think they could come up with a nicer design!

Yes, but it comes in 12v and 240v versions, so make sure to get the 12v. Slightly different part number. There is an additional very small black box not shown in that photo. Looks ugly but the whole thing is installable behind the dashboard out of sight. None of mine is visible, not even the antenna, because 2.4 wifi easily goes through the materials they make boats out of!

Ok tks JFM. I really like Garmin generally;they seem able to produce products that don't require a 500g book to be carried around to look up how to use the damn thing. Gone wrong, , out of warranty sir? How about this small fee for a new one. Outstanding, IMHO.
BUT, unless I am reading the wrong site, their description of this unit on the web is hopeless compared to what I learn here ! Sounds FAB if I can find a tablet that is usuable in sunshine !
Incindentally,Airmar is another company that I just couldnt belive the genuine help I got, even if they are in France (St Malo) !

This forum is the place to hang out gigm! :D :D

I don't think anyone makes a sunshine viewable tablet but I find the iPad air ok. For most nav I use the garmins screens of course but the iPad is fine when the sun isn't high. Even in high sun, if lying on the sunbed wanting to nudge the boat 10 deg to port or starboard to dodge a collision, the autopilot screen is easily viewable enough if you shield the ipad screen from sun with your hand/cap/towel/scatter cushion etc
