AIS A little problem

AIS is the current "thing" in nautical circles. Anyone visiting www.aislive.com is sure to be impressed by the clarity of info on the screen. You might even start to believe it.

The problem is that not only do many vessels not have to use AIS, vessels big enough to be worth avoiding, but many that do, for one reason or another don't have it operating.

So if your thinking of buying a receiver at LIBS do be aware that it's only showing half of the picture.

There is nothing wrong with AIS LIVE..... shows same on it's screen to the radar at Dover Coastguard..... so much so, that i'm installing the system on my boat, so i can be tracked and makes my life easier chatting to other vessels in the path of DIVERS, over the years it will be cost effective to me , as it will save watching a radar screen and going up tide by 2 miles to get vessels to alter course..
