hi guys, just bought a small inflatable dinghy..could anyone put me onto any goog cheap links for a 12volt air pump...great site by the way...kind regards theted

Tesco stock them for £7.99 - not too bad either - depends how much you want to spend but get what you pay for i suppose - not specifically marine but come with the appropriate attachment for proper inflatable dinghies - cant find them online from google, but if you have one near you it may be worth the trip, i hear them have them in all their hypermarkets...

hi chris, thanks for the quick reply...the dinghy has to pumped up to 3,60 psi...i'd be willing to pay upto £60..i need the halkey-roberts valve fill adapter,i'll have a look in tesco's..thanks theted

second that - LVM hi speed inflator one of the best bits of kit i have bought, mine going strong after 14 years

I must be the exception with the LVM I bought it on recommendation and it failed on the second time of use.

Encouraged me to forget inflating/deflating the tender and fit some Snap Davits.

The LVM inflator has to be used to be believed. Brilliant kit. Deflates like a hungry elephant, too.

Typically, there's a marine seller on eBay offering them as bargains at £89.99. Only £30 more than I paid for mine last year from an LVM dealer....

I agree with Chris, only mine came from argos

When at anchor you dont want to drain your battery blowing up the dinghy.
Open the valves and these pumps blow up a dinghy in a minute or two with little battery drain, close the valve and then use a hand pump to complete the pressure, hand pump stays in the dinghy for emergency use.

Hand pump also acts as a bilge pump

The Argos type don't have the guts to blow up a Tinker to ANYTHING near working pressure. Ignore the LVM at your inflating peril.

Agreed but it will pump it to a soft usable pressure and then as I said a few pumps with a hand or foot pump needed.

Most dinghies are designed to equalise pressure to a few hand pumps into any one of three valves sorts the whole dinghy out.

That wasn't such a bargain. The Seamark Nunn website, somebody above linked to it, is offering them for £69.95, brand new. And you would get a guarantee with it.

thats it guy's,iv'e decided to go for the lvm...i'll try seamark nunn website ...thanks again guy's for the all the info....kind regard's theted....

Don't be in such a hurry. I happen to have an LVM inflator that I have never used, and don't need, having moved to a marina soon after I bought it. Its previous owner claims to have only used it three times.

Maybe we can do a deal?

ps Only problem is, having decried profit without work on another thread [see: Inheritance Tax], can I tack a bit on the price I paid for it and have a clear conscience?

I wanted it so I could run tests and prove the £7.99 argos pump was the best value /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
