Airmar Speed/Temp Voltage

Have an Airmar Speed/Temp transducer fitted to my Interphase Probe Sonar. The specs on the sonar indicate a 5V supply to the transducer. I would like to use the transducer on another piece of equipment that outputs 12V on the transducer + terminal. Will the 5V transducer work on the 12V supply or do I have to install a 7805 voltage regulator to bring it down to the indicated 5V or just a dropping resistor.
The Airmar number on the transducer is 02-0699. Another number is T1 (or H) -0200-027.
Can't find the number of Airmar's web site.

Airmar are a really helpful outfit, why not drop them an email and be certain if nobody here has done it before.

Actually airmar do have it on their site and the supply voltage is 5v DC to 25v DC'

Not sure if this applies to the display you wish to connect to but if I recall correctly this particular transducer is dedicated to monochrome units.
