Very good. I would like to think that a gentleman would have allowed the lady to climb onto the boom whilst it was over the boat and then swung out the boom, rather than allow her to crawl along it to the end!!

He had her safety in mind, had she done as you say, then fell off in that swell she would have landed on top of him, injuring both of them. As it is she had a soft landing

Much safer to do it with the mainsail up and some tension in the topping lift, that way you give her a nice hammock to lie in........ Worked for us on the Norfolk broads a fair few years ago when we accidentally touched the side...... Mind you, she did have to get out a bit sharpish as we got off and swung round onto the other tack!
