Further to my recent posting, can anyone explain why the air draft or height from the water line to highest point on the boat is rarely stated on reports or sales specs. I would have thought that this dimension was every bit as important as any other when choosing a boat or planning a trip with bridge height to consider. Just wondering !!

Incredable shrinking boat.

Think that with the bigger coastal based fly bridge boats prevented from going up most rivers the question of air draft rarely gets asked. It is very easy to do the job yourself with a bit of broom stick and a tape measure.Curious thing is all the bridges in my up stream local bit of the river give 2.55 as max headroom and my boat is 3.4m according to my tape measure.????????????

Nope. Nothing in the upstairs department at all. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Can't rely on bl**dy sales specs for accurate figures anyway.
During lift out for some maintenance work, I have just discovered that my boat is almost a foot deeper in draught than was shown on any of the documentation and if you do a web trawl for the model they all show around a foot less than the reality.

Beats me how a boat can have been in use for over 15 years without someone noticing. At least it explains why I keep finding the bottom where previously I was ok with a 1 metre draught.

Is this a material fact when it comes to sales info? Should the surveyor have picked up on it? Would I have bought the boat if I'd known/been aware?

At least with air draught you can actually SEE how high it is !!!

I refuse to rise to the bait and post

anything about the real reason that B1s boat sits so deep in the water and he keeps running aground. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
