Ive not had air con long and I remember reading something on re gassing ?

Do you bother to regas the boat air con or the car air con ?

boat has 3 units and top two are really cold, bottom cabin starts really cold but after 2 hours ice cold air turns to cool.
I am not sure but think this may be the upper units sending cold air down to the lower one so the lower one thinks it is winter and time to reverse cycle ?
Or should I get it re gassed

Yup, I have the aircon on my boat serviced every year at the same time as the engines and that sometimes means re-gassing
But your problem with the cabin a/c sounds like it could be thermostat related. Do you have a control panel in the cabin or anything that looks like a thermostat? As the temp in the cabin approaches the thermostat setting, the controller normally reduces both speed and temp

I didnt know they could freeze, as Dougie so eloquently pointed out I havent used them much this year, perhaps I am expecting too much.

Mike

There are three individual thermostats for each unit in each area, I admit it is cold in the front cabin by the time it warms up so maybe it is working as it should.

I have found the quickest way to cool a bottle of bubbly or case of beer is to stand it in front of the blower and put it on max, sometimes after a couple of hours or so the ice cold blast is not so cold.

If you read your post replies Doug you would have seen an invitation to France but you've missed it now, it has been warm enough down south /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

We were swimming last Saturday /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway thats not just 1/2 beer and a chip butty its now a WARM beer unless I find a way to override the frost protection on the air con /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yes, definately re gas. Over here, Malta, most boats have it standard and re gas is very common. As a fellow P360 owner would be interested in knowing a bit about your units. We brought the boat from the UK, so we only have heating. This never gets used . Planning to do something to instal ac under the saloon seating, small American ac ( £750) , and use the existing warm air ducting for the ac. Any info on your units would be most helpful. Don't tell the guys in the UK, its been in the high 30's for what seems like months, in fact everyone has ac to sleep at night. Not to mention the temp by the pool goes up to 50C in the sun . It's a tough break, but someone has to do it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Best wishes to all.

I know ver y little about A/C, you might get a better response asking this on a new thread but heres my bit for what it is worth

I have three separate units 6000 btu each ? Coolmax.
This is good as in the uk and N france we seldom get enough 240v to power all three so at least we can choose which ever area we want cold without tripping the pontoon.

Unit 1

under the starboard seat . for the saloon.

unit 2
is under the front cabin floor and cools the starboard cabin and the galley.(also helps the saloon)

unit 3

under the front bed. cools the front cabin (and the beer/bubbly), with the cabin door open also cools the galley.

if you have a full spec single unit 21 ooo btu you will need to upgrade to 32 amp. but again I believe others on the forum are much better qualified to reply than I.

Is the lower cabin at the set temp. If so, the ac has turned off as it should.
As for regassing, I've only found it necessary to have mine done about 3 times in 13 years and that's when the ac is not cooling. Each time it was due to small leaks. Mine get a lot of use year round, as you might imagine.

The thermostat doesnt actually have a gauge, it just has MAX and MIN.

If we do get any warm weather again this year I will try it on its own without the other two units running.

By the sound of it I think it is working correctly, I didnt realise it should cut off as the other two dont but they have a larger area to cover and are higher with more sun to cope with.

thanks for everyones help.
