Ahoy \"Hornblower\"

Hi, I am new to this site and would appreciate any information which it`s members could provide regarding :-
Any 22ft plywood HORNBLOWER yachts, (past or present), designed by Percy W. Blandford in the 1960s.
I have been interested in these yachts since being a young boy and am now in my mid-fortys having never seen one.
I once visited a hull (minus deck and cabinworks) which was destined for a Viking funeral, it was once called the HOBO.
Any information at all (links, photos, data, memories), would be much appreciated. It may be that a data-base of vessels could be compiled.
I bought a set of plans which give me the rights to build one vessel from them and the SAIL No would be in the 800s, and a professional trailor manufacturer used to advertise trailors for them so a number of them must have been built, can you help with any information?

Best Wishes

Re: Ahoy \"Hornblower\"

If the Hobo that you saw was heavily, built, and sheathed in GRP, it was probably the one built at Portishead by my mate Jimmy in the early 70s. He is still sailing , and I´m sure that he will talk to you about it.
It was sold as a kit, containing the engine, the frames, the panels, and so on, cut to size, and he had to collect it from the firm himself after a tip-off that they were going bankrupt, so his was the last one from that supplier.
I suppose that Hobo may be an obvious name for a Hornblower, so there may be another one. PM for more details.

Re: Ahoy \"Hornblower\"

I only ever saw one ,we were both anchored off Tenby. We got chatting as my boat was the Hornblowers smaller sister ,a Percy Blandford Lysander at the time.Sorry but cant remember names or anything.

The Lysander Owners association may have some info.

Re: Some brief info here...

Thanks p v b for the link to the information regarding the Hornblower yacht.
That information and photo (which is the only photo I have ever seen of one), is the same as the only pamphlet information I have seen, and was an extract from a pamphlet describing several designs for water craft designed by P.W.Blandford, and distributed through W.F.Harrison of Bingly, West Yorkshire, which is where I got my plans from a number of years ago.
Thanks again

Hi Graham,
Thanks for your comments,I once went to Tenby a good number of years ago, and would one day like to re visit the place. I seem to remember a very nice harbour, and a monument on a hill top, not to mention a lovely colour of sea.
Best Wishes
