Luckily my engine click problem was due to corrosion betweeen the starter motor and engine block so no replacement parts necessary. Easily Identified and fixed by a professional. I hope to be out and about this Sunday :)

cheers for the tip, now I know where to start with the same problem, usually just give the starter moter a whack with a shifter and it works lol.

Yes, an earthing problem. A legacy of a small amount of water coming into the bilge when the original over heating problem was being investigated. My set-up has raw water arriving through the leg as well as from the sea cock so some water came into the boat when the impellor was being checked. That identified another thing that needs fixing as the float switch did not do its job, so another little thing to get fixed :( The film 'the money pit' appears so true even with less antiquated boats :-)
