Yacht "Windswept" broke free from her mooring at Port Erin a couple of weeks back. Crew woke to the sickening sound of her running aground...

Ouch! That's a Renown, the fin keel verion of Searush. Rather brings it home a bit sharpish. They are Damn strong boats tho' so, depending on how much she bounces on the next tide, she should come off needing only a fair bit of cosmetic repairs.

I often go aground - on sand - and with bilge keels, it is not a problem. But that is somewhat more serious.

That yacht has stood up to such a grounding incredibly well, a credit to her designer. Hope they got her off.

Compare with the typical AWB which will fall apart at the merest tap. This well-known yacht lost its keel, rudder and mast after a scrape on the Brambles Bank (Solent) in moderate winds.

No more details, topic is time expired on feed, but the word successful is promising. Good old Laurent-Giles then. They may not be the fastest, but they are Damn strong, as I said earlier!

Where was the picture taken, I don't recognise it as anywhere near the Brambles?

Like you, can't see any resemblance to Bramble Bank unless it was towed to the location where photo taken later, in which case, no resemblance to conditions on Bramble, as it's a photo of somewhere near shore.
