Can anyone give us first hand experience of this marina please as full time winter live aboards please?

In particular we are concerned about reports of violent surge in the marina at times?

We would be living on the boat in the water all winter

Thank you

As we left last year ( our 2nd year) they were putting in new lines. The pontoons themselves are not in the best shape but I have seen a lot worse. The staff on the whole are helpful and pleasant to deal with, the travel lift can be a bit hit and miss on when you get lifted out and back in so book early. The block is ok, one washing machine that has seen better days and a dryer that spins but that's about it. Lots of things going on if you're into it: BBQ on a Sunday, music nights, walking, quizzes, boules on the beach etc. The town is great and on your doorstep, 5 fishmongers, numerous butchers, a Carrefour, a big Spar, an out of town Lidl, lots of bars and restaurants open all year round, locals are very friendly.

The surge is bad at times, you will need large springs and a decent plank to get on and off, all in all dealable.

IMO, marina infrastructure 5 out of 10, Town 8.5 out of 10.

If you go enjoy.

We were also there over winter. Yes do contact Tony as he lives there on board every winter. We would give slightly higher marks than Carmel2. The town is great and you cam walk everywhere. There is a bus which you can get on and off any where for €1.00 it goes all round the town. So walk to the supermarket do the big shop and bus back and get off at the marina.
