Hi,
I have a 2001 Fairline Targa 43 running Volvo Penta TAMD74’s. There is a small intermittent issue with the starboard engine going offline. This typically happens shortly after leaving the pontoon when one needs that engine for steerage. To over come the problem the engine has to be stopped and restarted.
I understood this might be fixed by the replacement of the potentiometer in the throttle control.
However whilst working in the engine bay with the garage floor out, I noticed a sensor in the rubber exhaust hose. It looks like a Danfoss MBT5250 exhaust temperature sensor. The port side is fine, but the starboard side is disconnected as on of the pins has snapped off.
When I traced the wires, they ran along the engine and through the engine bay forward bulkhead. Whilst I have yet to trace them further forward, I presume they are connected to some form of feedback control system.
Has anyone come across this before?
Could it be that this sensor is causing this issue under certain condition, but is being overridden when the boat Cruising and fully warmed up?
Cheers
