Does anyone have any experiance with an Aermarine 360CH? I am considering getting one with a Yamaha 40hp motor. My other option is a Williams 385.

My only comment on the RIB is that it was very expensive when I looked, but of course you'll know the price before you order one.

I don't like the Yam 40 though. It has a 25% smaller displacement for its power rating than it's competitors, which means it lacks torque at lower rpm, but that doesn't translate to a much lower weight, only about 4 kilos lighter than the equivalent Suzuki. It does seem to mean a big issue with performance though, based on some magazine reports and user comments.

Personally, if I wanted to pull skiers and ringos I'd choose either the Suzuki or Evinrude 40 (I chose the Suzuki, and it has bags of torque), and if I just wanted a fast tender I'd choose the Evinrude 30, which is 20 kilos lighter. The Suzuki also has a timing chain rather than belt, which means simpler servicing. The Evinrude goes one step better with no servicing at all for 3 years.

Nick,

Thanks for the link and tip. I am going to the Miami Boat Show this weekend and will check out the Suzuki. Hope to learn a bit more about the Aermarine. Think it may be a better option than the Williams 385

Jet ribs seem to be fine as long as you flush them with fresh water after every use, and have a full service at the start of each season. Owners who do this seem very happy with their Williams.

Personally I prefer outboards, as you can just load the tender and go, and you don't have to be as strict with annual servicing.

Be sure to say hi to the folks on the Lumishore stand, tell them 'the forum sent me, and I claim my free beer', works every time for me! :D

Jimmy,

Went over and meet with EME yesterday. Said I was a multi- year forum lurker, but didn't say the forum sent me. Not certain that gets you the beer. Did visit the Suzuki stand and check out their outboard offerings.

Ah good effort. In fairness last time I used that line on him we ended up at Joe's having stone crab. And probably a beer or two as well :D
