Advice please

How do I accept????
I sold a mooring on behalf of a close friend... who is Scottish. He wants to reward me by giving me a bottle of rum… now I have no objection to that BUT… how do I accept?

1... if he hands it to me in person, he will want to drink more than half on the spot
2... if I tell him to leave it for me at the Club.. He will say he did, (but he wont) and blame the Club for not getting it to me
3…if I get him to leave it with a mutual friend... they will drink the bloody lot themselves.
4…if I meet him at the Club for lunch and we have a couple of COLD beers, then he has a Scotch or two, he will forget why we are meeting.. would it be rude of me to remind him????

Gee it’s hard sometimes doing favours for friends!

On the other hand if I do get the bottle.. I need Para or Jimi or Claymore to give me some wee advice on how to properly thank him .

the auld goat is completely unscrupulous where gifts of booze are concerned ... he palms (paws would be more apt a description) the bottle and its gone, never to be seen again although i know of one occasion when it re-appeared, briefly, to celebrate a scrumptious cauliflower concoction in tobermory bay ..... other bottles, though, have never been seen again ...

What you need to do is tell your mate you've just caught a dose of the clap and will be on antibiotics for a while and in the meantime, to cheer yourself up, you are stocking your spirits larder for the recovery party .. that should do the trick
