I am designing a deck wash system for my yacht which will be used mainly to wash fish. The pump will be a pressure pump and I have decided to fit one of the Quick Connectors in the deck. I have found 4 different makes/designs Jabsco. Oscula??? etc. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of these or others. I am interested whether spares are available.

Look forward to replies

Osculati do 4 designs

16 441 55

16 441 75

16 441 95

Very unsure how to connect to above fittings front or back?

16 442 20

Your links don’t work.
Ive got a deck wash fitted in the anchor locker, linked to a pump which also supplies sea water to a tap at the galley basin. All the taps are standard domestic fittings. Where the supply pipe to the anchor locker goes through the bulkhead, it’s simply sealed with Sikaflex (or similar), leads to an ordinary tap fitting which the hose clips on to.

I dont think they are links. They are the Osculati catalogue numbers

The first three are basically the same but in different finishes ( white, chromed and stainless steel)

The fouth is similar but is flush fitting, ie no raised cap

The internal "plumbing" will require a hose tail or other normal plumbing fittings to connect to the back. ( threaded 1/2" BSP)
The wash down hose plugs into the front with a fitting the same as, or similar to, the familiar "Hozelock" type garden hose fittings.

Its all illustrated in the catalogue ...although not very well I guess.

Agree with above, I run a hose form my salt water pump from galley and use standard hose connections for local diy shop

When you're washing the deck or anchor, does someone have to pump the salt water galley pump continuously?

I can see the similarity to standard garden fittings in the photos (have quite a few in my shed) but as the fitting pushes in it needs to open the internal valve. Not sure standard fittings will achieve this, thought it might need a bayonet.

Will have another look on the Osculati web site.

I used to have a fishing boat with a standard brass tap at the side of the wheelhouse, happened to be fresh water but could just as easily being salt water. I have and still am considering a similar arrangement but locating the tap where it will not foul the halyards, sheets, lazy jacks etc could be a challenge. Additional problem at the moment is I cannot get to the boat to suss it out properly, not an essential journey!.

You are right, at least about the flush fitting one. It is a bayonet fitting. Not so sure about the others . They look as though they may be a simple push in type but maybe they dont have the valve inside

Had another look but still nothing found in their catalogue regarding suitable fittings.

The osculati SS one looks as though it would work with a plug in cockpit shower, without any pump switching. Am I correct? I've been looking for something like that - not the kind where the shower retracts into the fitting.
