Hi All
The port trim tab (bennett I think) which is fitted to my Bayliner 2858 is leaking very slightly when pressurised,i.e I'm getting that rainbow sheen in the water at the stern! as soon as I take the tab all the way up it stops.
Therefore I guess the piston seals must be shot?
Has anyone got experience in refurbing these actuators?
Is it a straight forward job? (I'm quite handy with the spanners)!
And suggestions as to where I can source the spares kits please?
Guess I'm losing about 1/4 inch from the resevoir for every 4/5 hrs of running.

Many thanks in advance.
Rob

I would suggest if you're handy with spanners perhaps removing it yourself, but once removed take it to an engineering firm which specialises in mending these as then you'll get a warranty from it! Then you wont have to do it again in the near future /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That's my 5p, dont be put off doing it yourself, but that's how I would approach it.

I'll second that, Peter @ P H Marine is a great guy and his knowledge is second to none!
Good luck. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Rob, I did one of mine last winter, fairly straight forward to do yourself and as said peter at ph is great. If you do do it yourself, remember to use a lockedwrench to hold the tab open before you release the pressure as the tab does shut with serious snap if you dont, but peter will talk you through it. Good luck.
