Hi all. wonder if any body has the same prob as me and can give some advice. I have a 16ft day boat small cuddly fitted with a 55hp 2 cyd yam. I use it around anglesey mainly. I can get my wife to have a day out on it if the conditions are more or less flat calm and as long as I dont go to fast. 18knts seems ok but it will do 29 knts. now the problem I have is having to continually adjust the throttle to keep the speed just right. the boat has the yamaha 703 remote and I find it the amount of movement between full power and say half power not easy to stay set. prob cos of sea state ie less waves more waves as we go along. the friction is set ok its just that the is so little movement between power settings on the remotes from idle to max revs the control lever only has to move maybe 1 inch, hope this is making sense.

Regards Nick in cheshire.

Most remote controls have a friction brake to hold the lever in a set position you will need to check yith yamaha.
The short stroke between idle and full may be that the throttle cable is not correctly connected to the control some controls have various connections to suit different engine again check with yamaha

Thanks for that scotty, the friction is ok the lever does not slip, I will check the remote to see if you can connect the cable in a different slot maybe.
