Advice on prepping and painting interior wood

I’ve always thought it was melamine, convinced actually.
Look at the panels around the sink and compare to the sliding locker fronts above the seat.
Under the sink is melamine which is essentially a plastic . There is no moisture damage to the melemine and its failing would be caused by the panel it's bonded to.
The locker fronts will be a veneered ply which has been affected by moisture and maybe sunlight.

the sliding locker fromts above the sette berths are definitley ply, I’m fine with them, they will just get sanded and painted. The panels yousee by the sink are the melamine right enouh, and are waythe most used feauture in the boat. The locker doors lower down, all the bulkheads, and the toilet and both hanginging locker doors are faced with It.
It is, to my eye, singularly ugly, even if it is eminently practical :)
Its all going.
